Looking more closely at Alicia Keys' music, background and influences I have learned a great deal. I am really glad I chose her because she truly has a rich history of struggle and succession. Growing up in Harlem, New York with fighting parents who ended up divorcing, she was placed into a complicated situation. From the young age of seven thoughm, she found hope for her life on the piano. She was already learning Bach, Mozart and Beethoven, which I think is very impressive. She was a star from the beginning, but not only in her musical abilities was she noticed. She was also an excellent student. She was the valedvictorian of her highschool at the age of sixteen. She was accepted to NYU, but made the tough decision to follow her dreams and pursue a music career. I think that her music career idea was a very good one because now she is one of the top artists in America.

Wow, I never knew that about Alicia Keys. She really is an inspiration. It is amazing to hear about her background, and life before becoming famous. It is great that she was able to jump back from such a tough childhood. Seems she was a natural musician, which is very impressive. She is truly someone who should be looked up to in the music industry!
