I'LL TELL YOU WHAT I WANT...

My first favorite band was definitely the Spice Girls. They were pretty. They were crazy. And for a seven-year old girl, the lyrics were very easy to memorize. Of course, everyone identified themselves with an individual Spice Girl and by my peers I was considered a good "sporty spice." Not that I did any sports whatsoever, it was more something you could just tell. Making up dances with my friends to their music was fun. The Spice Girls meant a lot to me as a first grader because they were role-models outside of my tiny bubble. Their music, while maybe not an accurate preview of the music I listen to now, was a good introduction to music outside of the Baby Beluga and Annie Get Your Gun tapes.

I think I am one of the only girls who didn't have the Spice Girls as my first group, but while you said it doesnt reflect what you listen to now.. mine does, my first group was NSYNC and backstreet boys and i will admit that i still listen to them now haha
